Dr. Grisham's primary area of expertise is in COGNITIVE BEHAVIOR THERAPY. This was gained with one year of fulltime study under Albert Ellis's associate Maxie C. Maultsby, Jr., M.D. (then at the University of Kentucky College of Medicine, now at Howard University in Washington, D.C.). This type of therapy teaches individuals and couples how to identify and correct distorted, faulty thinking patterns in order to gain more realistic expectations and improve emotional experience.
Dr. Grisham developed additional areas of expertise with further training by John Gottman, Ph.D. (University of Washington) in STRENGTHENING MARITAL RELATIONSHIPS and by Dacher Keltner, Ph.D. (University of California-Berkeley) in POSITIVE PSYCHOLOGY and cultivating HUMAN HAPPINESS.
