COUPLES THERAPY SESSIONS: (MARRIAGE COUNSELING  FOR MARRIED COUPLES) These sessions are available in 45, 60, 90 and 120 minute lengths.  They are usually in the clinic.  However, phone sessions are available for emergency situations, times when the clinic is closed and to fill in for times when transportation difficulties arise.

TRAUMA TREATMENT SESSIONS:  EMDR (EYE MOVEMENT DESENSITIZATION AND REPROCESSING) sessions are available to treat intrusive emotional flooding experiences (or emotional numbing experiences) that prevent individuals from acting on the new information learned in couples sessions.  These are 90 minutes.

WHEN YOUR PARTNER WON'T COME TO THERAPY: About a third of the time, one partner in a couple is initially unwilling to attend sessions.  It is usually a good idea for the willing partner to begin sessions on their own.  Much progress can be achieved by teaching the willing partner new skills, attitudes and self-management techniques.  This will often change the relationship for the better.  Often, but not always, the unwilling partner will decide to come to therapy after some weeks or months of watching their partner change for the better. On the other hand, sometimes the partner attending therapy will decide to end the relationship.                                                                                                                   INDIVIDUAL THERAPY SESSIONS: Individuals who are not in relationships are welcome.  Such sessions can be used to explore why a past relationship went poorly.  They can also be used to learn how to make a better choice of partner, as well as,  to learn how to handle oneself better in a future relationship.
